Avantus Aerospace is on an aggressive acquisition mission.

The company announced it has acquired California Screw Products Corp., located in Paramount, California. It is the latest deal for the company, which until only recently had been known as Shimtech Industries.

California Screw Products Corp. is a manufacturer of high-strength fasteners for commercial and military aerospace use. Avantus said its latest acquisition has a ” natural fit” with other companies within its Avantus group of companies, including Fastener Technology Corp, which was acquired in December 2019, and Fastener Innovation Technology, acquired in September 2020.

The Avantus name change took place last June. The former Shimtech Industries has more than 50  years in the in aerospace parts manufacturing and had “evolved to manufacture products beyond shims,” the company said.  Avantus manufactures a broad range of C-class and specialty machined components like fasteners, brackets, shims, detail assemblies and clips in addition to composite and metal bond structures.

The Avantus group includes companies including Attewell, Lamsco, Bolsan, Fastener Technology Corp.; Pillar Seals and Gaskets; Performance Plastics;  Angeles Composites; and SDM Composites.

Since its inception in 1984, California Screw Products has developed a reputation as an innovative and reliable supplier of standards serving more than 45 aircraft platforms.  Its relationships span multiple decades, such as those with Boeing including BDSI, Incora (Wesco), Honeywell, Collins, Pratt and Whitney, GE, Airbus and Lockheed Martin.

“The ‘CalScrew’ team is known for taking care of their customers and we are excited about dovetailing their unique fasteners into our expanding product lineup.” Avantus CEO Brian Williams said. “Our combined strength allows Avantus to continue offering a diverse range of high-quality products with exceptional customer service.”

The existing management teams will continue to operate and grow the business under the guidance of Fastener President Dennis Suedkamp and Director of Business Development Larry Valeriano.  Valeriano is the former president of CalScrew.

“California Screw Products is a well-known brand in the fastener standards market, and looks forward to joining FIT and FTC as another integral company in the Avantus fastener and C-Class portfolio,” Valeriano said.

“The future appears very bright as Avantus focuses on sound companies that respect their employees and what they bring to our customers – technical soundness, innovation, high quality and world class service,” Suedkamp said.

Avantus Aerospace says it delivers more than 10 million parts a year through long-term relationships with major OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers and distributors in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
